Process of Interior Painting
  1. Determined the area you'd like to have painted (ceilings, walls, doors, soffits, cabinets, vanities, frames, baseboards, crown molding, etc...).
  2. First you want to scrape all imperfections, nail holes, peeling paint to prepare for paint.
  3. Patch holes or imperfection with any type of spackle or interior patching material.
  4. Sand all surfaces with sandpaper (220 works best for first sand application, 320 for in between coats).
  5. Prime all surfaces with the proper primer; primer is determined by the surface. It isn't necessary to prime entire surface only where there are patches or areas that were patched, imperfection, peeling paint or if you desire you can prime all surfaces but not necessary.
  6. Apply the first coat of finish material with the proper tool, typically for ceilings and walls; Standard 9 inch roller 1/4 or 1/2 inch roller nap, doors (Mini roller works best) baseboards and trim work.
  7. Sand after first coat with 320 then wipe with a rag, apply 2nd coat.
  8. Repeat as many coats as needed to achieve the results you desire.
